New Rosie Belle Performing Arts Theatre Planned

RBPAT is announcing that the IRS has granted RBPAT a Tax Exempt Status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service tax law.

RBPAT is an exciting project in downtown Rochester, Minnesota, that will contribute to multiple arts and culture and will enhance youth and adult development in all of southeastern Minnesota’s performing arts organizations while furthering Rochester as a destination city.

The new home of the Rosie Belle Performing Arts Theatre is to be located at the corner of Broadway and 4th Street SW. RBPAT is planning an 800 seat performing arts theatre in Rochester, Minnesota, that will serve the needs of local performing art and talent groups. It would accommodate all performing groups or individuals, including singers, actors, dancers, musicians, and also be available for seminars, conferences, conventions, and meetings.

This facility will have state of the art technology, lighting, and sound.  It will allow performers to deliver their highest potential of talent, and will offer an excellent experience and comfortable seating for the audience. In addition, there will be space for rehearsals, offices, and classrooms. Preliminary design work has been completed by Yaggy Colby Associates, Rochester, Mn.

Tax Exempt Status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service tax law makes all memberships and donations tax deductible. Minnesota has also granted us tax exempt status.

The theatre is estimated to cost $16.1 Million dollars.  Bids for demolition and construction are currently being evaluated with construction planned for 2010. Adequate nearby parking is available in the Rochester downtown development plan.

Jan Daly, our CEO, has said: “In giving back to our community, our goal is to provide a facility that is both available and affordable for all of the southeastern Minnesota performing arts organizations.  Based on our survey of over two dozen performing arts groups, the theatre would be booked approximately 47 weekends per year.  Weekdays, the facility would be occupied by rehearsals in the evening and would be available for meetings and seminars during the day. There will also be availability to capitalize on performances during the day.”

We are ready to move forward pending additional financial commitments and we are planning membership and donor drives to be announced.
